Course Overview
This qualification prepares you to provide high-quality care and support to older people in residential, home, or community settings. You’ll also develop the skills to:
Deliver care using a person-centred approach
Monitor health and safety in care environments
Work legally and ethically in aged care settings
Support older people with complex needs, including dementia and palliative care

Fees and Funding
Eligible students in Western Australia may benefit from several government funding initiatives:
Lower Fees, Local Skills Initiative: This program offers a 50% reduction in course fees, capped at $1,200. Concession holders and individuals aged 15–24 may pay as little as $400, plus applicable resource fees.

To be awarded the Certificate IV in Ageing Support, 18 units must be completed consisting of:
- 15 core units
- 3 elective units
You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.
If the RPL application is successful, you will be given credits towards your course (meaning you may not have to complete all the units to gain this qualification).
